external_field/client/dependency

Validation returns one of the following warning messages:

  • [operation] ([OperationName]) external_field: [FieldName] - see help
  • [operation] ([OperationName]) external_client: [ServiceName] - see help
  • [service] [(ServiceName]) external_dependency: [DependencyServiceName] - see help

Operation references a field not present

The operation references a field that is not present in your current project.

Ignore this message if you know the referenced field exists higher up in your configuration tree.

Procedure

  1. On the Canvas panel, select the component that contains the error.
  2. If the referenced field does not exist higher up in your configuration tree, you must either:
    • Add the field to your project
      Note: Reference-only fields appear on the Canvas panel in faded grey. You can add them by clicking APPROVE FIELD.
    • Delete or modify the reference by:
      1. Clicking EDIT SOURCE on the Settings panel
      2. Editing the fields attribute of the operation

Notify/solicit references a service not present as client

The operation references a service - in its clients attribute - that is not present in your current project.

Ignore this message if you know the referenced service exists higher up in your configuration tree.

Procedure

  1. On the Canvas panel, select the component that contains the error.
  2. If the referenced service does not exist higher up in your configuration tree, you must either:
    • Add the service to your project
      Note: Reference-only services appear on the Canvas panel in faded red. You can add them by clicking APPROVE SERVICE.
    • Delete or modify the reference in the Edit view of the Settings panel

Service references a service not present as dependency

The service references another service - in its dependencies attribute - that is not present in your current project.

Ignore this message if you know the referenced service exists higher up in your configuration tree.

Procedure

  1. On the Canvas panel, select the component that contains the error.
  2. If the referenced service does not exist higher up in your configuration tree, you must either:
    • Add the service to your project
      Note: Reference-only services appear on the Canvas panel in faded red. You can add them by clicking APPROVE SERVICE.
    • Delete or modify the reference in the Edit view of the Settings panel
